Location

Mi Casita is located in central Mexico in the village of Ajijic (pronounced Ah-hee-heek) on the shores of Lake Chapala, the largest lake in Mexico.

The Lake Chapala region has been a favorite of North American retirees for many years. Estimates range from 15,000 to 25,000 permanent and part time ex-pat residents, mostly from the United States and Canada.

Situated in the central highlands of Mexico at approximately 5,200 feet above sea level, the area boasts the “world’s 2nd best year round climate” according to National Geographic magazine.

Ajijic is located about 40 kilometers from Guadalajara, Mexico’s 2nd largest city, and is only 20 kilometers from the Guadalajara airport.

The Village is a mix of quaint, authentic Mexican homes and shops along with modern conveniences like Walmart, Dominoes, and Subway sandwiches. A short drive to Guadalajara offers Costco, Home Depot, and Sam’s Club, as well as several high end shopping malls that rival any in the United States or Canada.
